There isn't enough time with the good ones. Sounds like that time in a bottle song. Still, it is nice to be with ones who are worth missing when they leave us. Sorry

Thanks everyone.  That's one of the few pictures I have of Brad without the cigarettes that killed him. It taken on the morning of Jon's wedding, a year after mine and a year before his own.  He has two grown daughters now, both engaged.   He was hilarious, creative, warm, and steadfast.  He didn't have a drop of meanness in him.  We had some great adventures together and spent many nights watching shooting stars on the banks of sand bars in the Mississippi.

Big Load,

I'm sorry. Our thoughts are with you.

Several weeks back I shared the thoughts below with SWT after his loss. The image, concept of someone "passing over to the other side" has always resonated with me, helped me in similar situations.

"FWIW, some Native Americans will say someone "has passed over to the other side"

I like the phrase, particularly its implications that the story continues and we don't know the later chapters of the story quite yet. That a person's aura continues after they pass, and all the implications of that aura are yet to be known."

Thanks again, everyone.  We just talked to Brad's wife.  She's doing well, considering how suddenly things changed.  They never moved away, so they have generations of family and friends around them.

When I first saw your photo a couple of day's ago and saw the shocking resemblance to you, I thought it was a lament to your own youth and loss of time.

It's funny, because Lori says their daughter's fiance reminds them of me, which I figure stems from what Brad and I had in common.

I would be honored to thought as good a friend as he was to all who knew him.  His path in life was very different from mine, but it was always a treat to see him.  Every moment was happy.
