I’ve been a lurking non-participating member for a while now. So I believe introductions are in order and I also understand there are some questions that need to be answered concerning bacon, kilts and other moral tendencies.

IMO Bacon goes with anything & anywhere.

Kilts; I’d be open to new experiences, except maybe in tick country, which is just about everywhere I hike.

Sorry, but I have to draw the line at brussel sprouts.

My wife (girlfriend at the time) introduced me to backpacking, I was more of the throw gear & beer in the trunk and camp out at primitive sites in some state forest while on kayak trips type.

It didn’t take me long to get hooked.

We’re still not seasoned veterans, but we manage to have a good time and come back in one piece.

We spend most of our time in the mid-Atlantic, PA, MD & WV.

We have two kids now, and both were introduced to backpacking at a young age.

As you can see, I need to work on going lite.

They still seem to enjoy backpacking as they’ve gotten older.

My old Kelty external frame was traded in when my wife got me a shiney new Gregory for Christmas. So we’re hoping to put it to good use as much as possible this upcoming year.

Sorry if I neglected any other intro requirements.

Ah heck, close enough for whom it is for.

Welcome and I hope you stay and participate.

Anyway, thanks for the intro. Good to see families out backpacking together.

They are actually my favorite veggie.  They unconverted should try them with crumpled bacon.

Anyway, Thanks for all the welcomes. I'm looking forward to jumping into the fray as a more active member.

:)  Welcome!  Great intro, BTW.

I'll be taking my kids backpacking (upgrading from hiking) starting this summer, here locally in Colorado.  Can't wait.  Check by at the "Backpacking with Kids" forum from time to time, I'll probably be picking people's brains about it there. :)

I do agree that it is a fine introduction. I wish more people would do it. I still can't get over the girl who inquired about merino wool sleeping bags.

You've got a beautiful family. Welcome.

Wow nice intro. Usually newbees are torn apart, shredded, and put in the sun to rot. Then slowly excepted into this community. You bypassed all that which is great. Must have been the bacon pie. Welcome
