When it gets that cold I really like the way you can feel your nose hairs freezing all the way up into your sinus passages when you breathe in.

Just to avoid any confusion or misunderstanding;  I italicized ‘like’ to clearly indicate that I am being sarcastic.

Get it to -40 for several days and we'll finally be able to cull back the pine beetle infestation, at least temporarily.  To my knowledge, it used to get this cold frequently in the winter in CO.  Nothing terribly unexpected about negative double-digit temps for a day or two.

I don't like the deep cold.  Down to about -10F it's tolerable, but any colder is just plain miserable.  Snot freezes in my nose, my eyeballs start to get cold, glasses conducting heat from the bridge of my nose gives me headache, skin cracks in my sinuses, the list goes on and on.

Last time I feel asleep and woke their were cowgirls dancing. Maybe I was dreaming that. Can't remember the last time I woke up. I guess I've been up for a long time.

We've had more "snow days" from school this year for cold than ever.  No closings for actual snow, mind you, but certainly for cold.

Although I appreciate the sentiment, I disagree.  When you need ski goggles just to take the dog for a 5 minute walk, that's bad weather.  Not to mention, I spend 10 minutes bundling up in "adequate clothing" only to have her paws freeze after about 3 minutes.  Back in and another 10 minutes to undo all the "adequate clothing"

I'm no winter hater, but that bitter cold below zero business is getting old.

From NOAA:

-27F just a couple miles down the Poudre River drainage basin from me this morning. The "wind chill was - 35 to -45F.

At my house it was -17 when I left for work. I set up my tools in a closed, unheated garage, and brought my lunch box in. When I tried to open my can of pop at lunch, it was frozen solid.

Ft. Collins never got above 0 all day, setting a new record low high for the date. It's currently -8F and dropping like a rock as I type this.

Yeah man, Lamebeaver lives further south. Denver never hit -20s, nor did Boulder.

This was on I-70 near Watkins.  It got down to -16 at our house (south of Bennett) last night.  I glanced at the temp reading in my car on the way to work and couldn't belive it!  I actually took a picture of my dashboard, but the temp had risen to -18 before I could snap it.  Within a minute it was back up to -13.  I'm guessing is was a local "bubble" in a low spot.

It was -26 in Greeley this morning.

Not as cold up here wesst of the Divide, just 12 below I saw this morning. Forage however is down and they just started feeding elk and bison on the refuge this week.

Seems like tables have been turned and its been colder East of the Divide in Wyoming.
