Funny.
A large number of elk are "missing" because of wolf predation and spring migration to locations remote from roadways and to outside the park.
It's amusing that the article video shows some 30 bison trotting along the road (very common) and calls it running from "something vast and deadly". Bison move on the roads in many places because the roads provide the easiest routes between grazing.

Title it "The Conspiracy of the Wolves."

The key is to start running in the early stages of the explosion, before it gets too far underway.  You also have a fair chance of being thrown clear by the shock wave, but it won't do anything worse to you than change your location.  You can mitigate poison gases with a handkerchief.

You guys are just plain silly.  Everyone knows that the only reliable information is on the Chicago internet.

FYI, for minor disasters it helps to leap toward the camera when the fireball explodes behind you.  If you have to land on your side, make sure it isn't the one that has the glass vial of serum in your hip pocket.

If a"noted ohio survivalist" goes to the trouble to raise an alarm of clearly impending doom, the least you people could do is take him seriously. I mean, why else would bison run? On the road?!

Is it supposed to go today?  I'm just curious whether I should bother to pack a lunch for work this morning.  It'd save me the trouble and all.

And a big +1 with TDale.  The fact that the gov't is flat-out denying it is a sure fire sign that we're all pretty screwed.

"Thundering herd"??
It was only about 30 animals spread out and trotting over 1/2 mile distance.

I once got to see about 1000 of Turner's bison in a full-on stampede and wondering if the Madison River between us would stop or turn them. That's a thundering herd (and scary as hell...)

Park officials claim that the video shows bison running back into the park as a part of their normal migration patterns — not out of it.

I'm not an extreme survivalist. It's not like I don't have other reasons for installing a periscope far up through the roof of my house. It's a way to enjoy the view all the way around. The reason for the periscope is really not because I'll need to see above the 30-foot layer of ash that will cover my house. That would be silly.
