I just got back from a Thanksgiving vacation to AZ and had to get back home to ID all of the new birds I saw.

The first one I saw was the AZ State Bird, the Cactus Wren.

The noisy Gila Woodpeckers were next.

Then a Mockingbird

This little Black throated Sparrow was hiding out with the Cactus Wrens.

Then a covey of Gambel's Quails came out in the deep twilight

I also saw several Western Scrub Jays, but the nefarious birds eluded my every attempt to get a photo.

Great!  AZ is a fantastic place to see birds, but getting good pictures of them can be quite a challenge.

Nice pictures, especially that woodpecker! Similar to the birds we saw in Big Bend, specifically I remember a mockingbird outside our room at the Chisos Lodge who sang all day long.
