Did anyone else happen to catch this on Nat Geo last night?

Maybe it's just me Eastern self not being used to the majesty of the open west, but something about this show was fascinating to me.  It's just hard to conceive of that much open space and the way these wolf packs shift and change.

I saw part of it, we were discussing travel plans for this year and Yellowstone creeped back into the mix.
I thought it interesting the average wolf lives to be 5 in Yellowstone-the Back was 11 I think.

I was stunned to hear that too.  I guess I'd always figured that barring injury or disease, they'd make 10-11 years.  I guess it's the whole "barring injury or disease" that's the tough part though.

Yellowstone wasn't on our plans, but it sure is now.

There are some other videos that follow wolf packs. I'll try to scout down some links later. I don't get TV out here, but the videos can be as addictive as wolf watching in general.

Oh, and thanks for the link.

. . . or, In the Valley of the Wolves, which shows more about the pack rivalries than the video above. The video above is more about the general wildlife of the area, including wolves and grizzlies.

Thanks Travis, I'll check them both out when I get to a computer with a better monitor.
