Recently an old video essay of Ed Abbey filmed at Arches has surfaced. It was supposed to air on a newsmagazine show but the network execs back out. More info here.

Who else loved Ed?

Big Abbey fan here.

Thanks for posting the link to the little gem of a video. Finging something on Abbey that hasn't been seen before is rare.

Thanks Brian.  This is the only time I've heard Abbey's voice.  I got a kick out of his pull tab headband, beer cans I assume.  He  didn't come across so much as an eco-terrorist but rather just sarcastic and disappoined.  I suppose The Monkey Wrench Gang earned him his reputation and raised flags throughout the media, limited as it was at the time.  He's one of my heroes.

I missed the pull tab headband! I need to look at it again. Glad you liked it. Good point... disappointed is a good description. I don't think he had any issues with disrupting or even harming the system but I don't think he'd ever support something that hurt real people.
