Compared to some, I haven't been smoking for very long, only about 8 years.

But three days ago I gave my last carton away, all my lighters (except the ones I keep in my fire starting kit), and threw out all my ash trays!  So far it has been surprisingly easy!

It is my dream to live by the mountains, so I figured I better cut the addiction so I can hike those mountains one day!

Is a wise decision, stay strong and leave those darn things alone.

Keep up the great work!  It's hard, but your heart, lungs and the rest of your body will thank you!

Viking-

Hope you're still at it.

For an added incentive, consider this.

I quit Dec 20th.  I have had an automatic withdrawl every week for $70..  Yup, I was smoking $70 worth every week, thanks to our states high taxes.

You want to live by the mountains???  $280 per month will take a nice dent out of that mountain cabin mortgage payment.

Me, I just used a portion of the $$ I've saved to buy a new USA made Guild Guitar.....

I hope you are still hanging in there.

The most important thing you can EVER do to increase life span is to quit smoking! (Ruling out other very high risk life styles)

You should be feeling the difference by now.  The longer you stay away from it, the better chance your lungs will recover.

Congratulations.  NEVER even try another cigarette for the rest of your life.

Fantastic! Congrats on shaking the habit, but I think the mountain dream would be enough to get me to quit too.  I hope you're still at it too though, it is one way to really change the way you feel.
