My husband accumulated 36 years of Backpacker Magazine starting with the very first magazine in 1973 (the one with the famous red hiking boots).  How do I get these out of my storage room?

I know you posted this in the Women's section, but here is my take.  I am assuming your husband no longer wants them, or has passed on.  If that is the case, I am sorry for your loss.

Contact the magazine.  They might be interested in them, as a curiosity if nothing else.  36 years of any magazine is quite the collection.  Next, I would contact an auctioneer and see if they are aware of any value the collection might hold.

If of no value monetarily, you might look into giving hem to a Boy Scout troop that has a backpacking group.  They might like reading about the trips, or the advances in gear.  They might also just haul them off for you.

Maybe your local library? I noticed my library doesn't have it.

Hard to say about libraries.  My library doesn't archive magazines.  We have limited space, so only keep the current year and previous year.  But they might take them for a book sale.

Good Will, the recycle bin, scouts.... and if all else fails, the trash since apparently you do not want them.

Oh man, remember the good ol' first issues of Backpacker Magazine.  What fun!

Sell them on ebay. You'd be amazed at what some people will buy on there. Someone might want the whole collection or certain ones to round out their collection.
