Short 2 miler

It rained heavy on Monday, so we were caking mud onto the soles of shoes and boots almost immediately. 2 inches at times.

We had brought the dogs, so my son ended up with the trekking poles so he didn't get pulled face first through the mud by the dogs.

My wife had the old grouchy dog, I had the white oversize puppy.

The bridge didn't inspire confidence, but after getting on it, it felt like one person could rock it over.

The rain had swollen some streams and saturated some trails. We did a lot of back tracking, because we had no place special to be and wanted to avoid wet feet.

Day pack for me, which meant that the bandana for the runny nose about half way through.

And grocery bags at the end to drop his and wife's muddy shoes in. I put the bags over the top of my boots and drove home with my feet in plastic and no mud in the wife's car which makes for a happy wife

And duct tape on a trek pole with a busted cheapo carabiner to retrieve keys that fell into a storm drain.

Hope your day was grand.

Good job!  I dragged my teens out to the park for an hour's hike on New Year's.  in our case it was sunny and cool, really a lovely day.
