FORUMS
These common questions about forums are answered below:
1. Why am I having a problem logging on to the forums?
2. How do I post a question in a forum?
3. What's the difference between being logged in as a registered user and reading the forums as a guest?
4. Why do I have to supply all this information to register?
5. How do I change my name, password, or e-mail address in my registration information?
6. How do I report abuse of the forums?
7. What happens if I forget my password?
8. What happened to the old forums?

1. Why am I having a problem logging on to the forums?
The most common problem people have getting into the forums is that they type their username or password incorrectly. Remember that both are case-sensitive: darkvader and DarkVader are two different users as far as the system is concerned.  Retype the words in all capital letters, all lowercase letters, and then with the first letter capitalized. If you still can't log on, e-mail our forums moderator and he'll set a new password for you. You should then change it as soon as possible. And write it down!

2. How do I post a question in a forum?
a. Log in with your user name and password. If this is the first time you've visited our forums, you'll need to register as a user.

                 1. Registration: Click on the register button and complete the information. (NOTE: You will need to wait for your new account to be approved. This is done by a real human, so if you register late in the evening, or on a weekend, you may have to wait a few hours for that approval!)

                   2. Follow the instructions from the welcome email to complete your registration.

b. After you’ve completed registration, click on the name of the forum you'd like to post a message to.

c. Click on "Post New Message" along the left side of the screen.

d. Enter a subject heading (a few words describing your message)

e. Then write your message in the "Question" area.

f. Click on "Post Message."

g. Your message should now appear in the forum as the most recent post. If you get a message that says "Internal Server Error", ignore it and check the forum page again. Your message was probably posted. If it doesn't appear, try refreshing your screen to see your message.

3. What's the difference between being logged in as a registered user and reading the forums as a guest?

The only difference is that as a guest, you can't post messages. There will
be no reply or "Post New Message" buttons on postings you read, as there are for registered users. You can only read posts as a guest.

4. Why do I have to supply all this information to register?
We encourage people to take responsibility for the messages they post in our forums. As a registered user, your forum name and e-mail address  (depending on the preferences you set) can appear with your posts.

5. How do I change my name, password, or e-mail address in my registration information?
After you log in, click the "Your Account" link on the upper right. That takes you to a page where you can edit your registration information. NOTE: The name you register ("DarkVader") will always be displayed just as you registered it; you cannot alter it or change to a new name. You can change your password or your email information  as you see the need. If you run into any problems with this, contact bp2go and he will help you.

6. How do I report abuse of the forums?
We appreciate forum users alerting us to any offensive postings, that you might find; every posted message has a "Report this post!" link under it, and we encourage you to use it; nobody else in the forum will know. A message will be sent to bp2go., our forums moderator, and he will follow up.

7. What happens if I forget my password?
PLEASE e-mail us your username. We can't tell you your old password—they're encrypted in the system—but if you want a specific password, you can ask for it (we won't have any record of this after it's reset; we can also set a random new password for you, which you can then change later.
